Ladybugs and Lilacs was founded in 2004 by Brooke Marston and Krista Anderson when they began searching for stylish and unique flowered headbands and accessories for their own infant children. It seemed the types of items they were looking for were no where to be found, so they set out to create what they were looking for.

After creating a few styles to match different outfits they gave them a test run. It seems that everywhere they went people commented on the how cute the flowered headbands were. People wanted to know where they could purchase similar items. By popular demand, they began designing and crafting items for their friends and neighbors children as well. Soon there was enough demand to seek out retail outlets and other ways to sell their products.

The company was originally called Home Grown Kids and the original product designed was a flowered headband. The company has now grown to include dozens of different designs and styles in hundreds of different colors and flowers.
